Opera star Renee Fleming came to Manhattan’s Grand Ballroom to record her vocals for Steven Spielberg’s new animated feature Tintin. Singing live with a 69 piece orchestra, Ms. Fleming was also filmed for motion caption. To ensure her animated character reflected all of her natural facial expressions they place green markers on Ms. Flemings face. Mr. Spielberg and Mr. John Williams attended the session via polycom from LA.

The incomparable Phil Ramone made Manhattan Center home for a couple of days to record a 52 piece orchestra for Tony Bennett’s new Duet CD for Sony Music. The very talented Mr. Jorge Calandrelli arranged, orchestrated and conducted the dozen or so standard tunes. Phil Ramone produced while Dae Bennett engineered.

Composer Carter Burwell spent a week in the Grand Ballroom and Studio 7 recording a 67 piece orchestra for the upcoming Cohen Brother’s film “True Grit”. The score was recorded by engineer Mike Farrow, who was assisted by Bryan Smith on protools.
